Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
As an inclusive school, we believe that every pupil has an entitlement to develop their full potential.
Our SEND and Equalities policies are developed and reviewed in consultation with Parents, Staff and Governors and we aim to provide an educational experience that is appropriate to pupils' individual abilities, talents and personal qualities regardless of gender, race or disability.
Pupils' views are sought through our school council. We liaise closely with all external agencies available to us, so that we may support children's individual needs, including their emotional well-being. We ask the pupils about this and act on it where necessary from our PASS data.
Through our 'School Offer for Families' (please see attached), we work with families to ensure that the needs of the children are met, engaging support from outside agencies where that course of action is appropriate eg Speech and language therapist, school nurse, Pastoral Support Service in order that we can help the children in the school. When your child starts school we will ask if your child has any particular educational or medical need, and we would ask that you keep us informed in order that we can make best provision for your child. If your child does have SEN then there will be regular meetings with teachers and the Special Educational Needs co-ordinator Mrs Bancroft. Mrs Bancroft works with children both as part of the curriculum for all children and also in an advisory capacity for those children who need extra help with particular aspects of learning.
